The attorney for the woman who died while employees from Louisville Solid Waste Management were performing a routine alley cleanup identified her Tuesday.
After the hearing, Assisting County Attorney Erin White said, “after our review of the evidence in that case, we decided that was the best decision, the just decision.”
Unlawful camping citations will be heard in Jefferson District Court’s “Unlawful Camping,” docket, which will be held every month to help those charged meet up with service agencies to them get back on their feet instead of going to jail.
“This court should dismiss the case against (the woman) and rule that citing an unhoused person simply because they needed to sit down during early labor is cruel and unusual punishment under the Eighth Amendment.”
