Dr. Brian Yearwood said he believes the best way to lead is by listening and being present in schools. He also stressed the importance of attendance. 

New JCPS Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood said the district is prepared to welcome back nearly 100,000 students to its 165 schools. 

Inside the walls of Wheeler Elementary School on Monday, teachers were busy setting up for the first day of school. 

Several organizations are hosting back-to-school events in the Louisville area.

Part of the safety effort falls to crossing guards and bus drivers who play a big role in keeping kids safe. Getting kids to and from school each day is a team effort.
