LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jefferson County Public Schools students head back to school next week and to get them ready, several organizations are giving back.

On Saturday, Aug. 2, the Republic Bank Foundation YMCA is hosting a Back-to-School Bash to get students looking and feeling good before the first day.

"We want them to have full concentration, give them everything they need, full confidence, we want them looking good, so the haircuts and hairstyles and we just want them ready," YMCA Group Vice President Freddie Brown said.

The bash will have free school supplies of course, but also free haircuts and hair styles, live music, bounce houses and food trucks.

That event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1720 W. Broadway, Louisville.

The fun doesn't end there on Saturday. The Hammer's 3rd Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway returns for another year.

"Jefferson County Public Schools are free, but there's a lot of cost to be ready on the first day of school and we want to support that, these are the future leaders of our community," Stock Yards Bank President Phil Poindexter said.

Families can head to Lynn Family Stadium from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday for backpacks filled with school supplies and free tickets to Louisville City FC's game that evening.

Another place you can get both a haircut and back to school supplies is at Black Diamonds Barbershop.

"We're looking to give back to the community and just do our part and bring awareness to children and make a safe place for everybody," Black Diamonds owner Joey Thompson said.

Thompson says they'll have backpacks, pencils, papers, pens, erasers and more on Monday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you want to donate supplies, you can take them to the barbershop at 3983 7th Street Rd.
