Brian Yearwood sat down with WDRB for a chat -- and no question was off limits. 

A Kentucky lawmaker congratulated Brian Yearwood as the newest superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools a day after the school board said it voted to appoint one of the two finalists.

The board met at 5 p.m. to discuss the two finalists for the superintendent position.

The council members are asking the board to add an additional Q&A session in Louisville's south end with the top two candidates for the next superintendent of JCPS.

Ben Shuldiner and Dr. H. Brian Yearwood are the top two candidates for the next superintendent of Kentucky's largest school district.

Last September, Dr. Marty Pollio announced he would be stepping down as superintendent July 1 this year after nearly three decades with Kentucky's largest school district.

Board member Tricia Lister, who represents District 2, described the emails as an apparent attempt to pressure or harass the board. 

The Academy @ Shawnee and Ballard High School hosted community forums.

Thursday, the district’s Superintendent Search Advisory Committee discussed key qualities they hope to see in the new leader.

Community members, students, and education advocates are already focusing on the qualities they hope to see in the district’s next leader.
