St. Xavier High School appeared in danger of a second consecutive first round defeat in the Boys Sweet 16 in Lexington on Wednesday.

Before a packed house at Fairdale High School Monday night, Male raced out to a 15-2 lead and held off top-ranked St. Xavier 60-58 to claim its first King of the Bluegrass championship since 2007.
