LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Before a packed house at Fairdale High School Monday night, Male raced out to a 15-2 lead and held off top-ranked St. Xavier 60-58 to claim its first King of the Bluegrass championship since 2007.
Sophomore Jordan Mitchell was named the Bob White Most Valuable Player after scoring 26 points to lead the 9th-ranked Bulldogs. He scored 15 in the first half as the Dogs took a 33-20 lead into the locker room.

They led by double digits for most of the game before the Tigers made a late push. They were led by senior Jeremiah Jackson who scored 24 points, but struggled from the field, shooting 7-of-22 for the game.
Male also got 11 points from Keefe Braziel and 10 from Trey Hillerich. They are now 9-1 on the season.
Jordan Jackson added 10 for St. Xavier. They fell to 7-2 on the season.
It was the fourth all-time KOB title for Male.
