LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — A time capsule from 1975 was opened Saturday in Bardstown, Kentucky, to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.

It was sealed by the Daughters of the American Revolution and buried in the Pioneer Cemetery to mark the nation’s 200th birthday.

The capsule was excavated, cleaned and opened. Inside were newspaper articles, books and documents.

Several families whose relatives may have contributed to the capsule were also asked to attend the opening.
