His comments came during a Lexington news conference where he and the city's mayor addressed the recent rise in violent crime in Lexington.

 A 43-year-old man was killed in a police shooting in Lexington on Sunday evening. 

Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said the department is going to increase patrols in high-crime areas as a deterrent and to help solve cases.
