The Louisville Metro Police Department reported responding to six shootings and one stabbing over the weekend, but overall crime is down compared to this time last year.

LMPD reported a 30% drop in homicides and a 40% decrease in non-fatal shootings compared to this time last year. 

While Louisville has experienced a decrease in overall homicides this year compared to last, there has been an increase in the number of children fatally shot.

It's a nonprofit organization that's working to reduce gun violence by providing skill building programs and resources.

Jefferson County has had at least 93 homicides so far this year, a pace that rivals the deadliest years in history.

In June 2023, Greenberg said Louisville "definitely" has a gang problem, adding that about 30% of the city's homicides are gang-related. 

According to LMPD, the number of gun-related fatalities so far this year are outpacing 2023.
