A study of Louisville-area businesses shows that for every $100 spent at locally, $55 is reinvested locally, while only $14 is reinvested locally when that same money is spent at a national chain.

The businesses provide a range of products, including menswear, home decor, sweet treats and jewelry.

The Kentucky Derby is now officially less than two weeks away, and local businesses are desperate for a revenue boost after a difficult winter, historic flooding and the cancellation of Thunder Over Louisville.
