Officer Dusten Dean, who was reprimanded last week for shooting pepper balls at journalists during the 2020 riots after the Breonna Taylor raid, is under investigation again for similar actions against protesters the same night.
The wrongful death lawsuit, filed in Jefferson Circuit Court in September 2020, claimed the 53-year-old barbecue chef committed no crime before he was killed on June 1, 2020.
“She was standing in, I don’t want to say, an aggressive manner, but as a manner that she was not going to go inside,” LMPD Officer Katie Crews said of McAtee’s niece, Machelle, who was working at YaYa’s BBQ that night.
But council could pursue those restrictions in the future in separate legislation.
There were reports of vandalism including an attack with a brick on a media vehicle.
