At 25 years old, Pvt. First Class Leonard Adams, a Dana, Indiana, native, shipped off to Northeast France.
The proclamation was announced by Beshear's office in a news release Sunday evening and comes after the flag was removed from the Capitol ahead of his Dec. 10 inauguration in Frankfort, Kentucky.
The remains of U.S. Army Air Forces Tech. Sgt. Charles G. Ruble, 20, of Selma, Ind., for decades had been considered unidentifiable and were interred at Ardennes American Cemetery in Belgium.
