A major railroad repair project is set to shut down a busy stretch of downtown La Grange next week.

Police say cars are getting stuck on the tracks on La Grange Road at Whipps Mill Road as well as Lyndon Lane. 

Trains coming and going from the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant sometimes block a road into a nearby neighborhood.

The crossing where Phyllis Minton died, which has no flashing lights, cross arm or even a stop sign.

Police say the pickup truck was crossing railroad tracks on Crawford Avenue near the intersection of Crawford and Buechel Avenue about 3:00 p.m. when it was hit by a Norfolk Southern train.
