Officials said the zip line will be designed to be universally accessible, with adjustable speeds based on the rider's comfort levels.Â
The planned center will feature 4,200 feet of competitive and recreational channels. The non-profit in charge of the design hope it will be a destination for athletes.
The Indiana DNR sued to get the city to remove rock poured at the dam as "emergency maintenance," and said it has since been stonewalled by the city.
For about a week, city crews have been placing large rocks and boulders on the downstream side of the dam.
In order to do any kind of work in a creek, river or lake, permits are required from the Department of Natural Resources and Army Corp of Engineers.
Andre "AJ" Edwards, 14, drowned in Silver Creek on Memorial Day. Since his death, there have been renewed calls for the creek's dam to be removed over safety concerns.
There was an active search for the teenager at the creek in southern Indiana for several hours.
