A suspended Nelson County fire chief changed his plea on Monday to guilty on charges of abuse of public trust, official misconduct and theft.

He is being held in the Johnson County Jail, and is expected to be transferred to Jackson County to appear in court.

Noel's daughter also earned close to $80,000 in 2022 as his administrative assistant. 

The Indiana Supreme Court appointed a special judge Thursday to oversee the case against Misty Noel, who was recently charged with five counts of theft and five counts of tax evasion in Clark County.
