The sheriff's office said already having a database on cameras around the county would give them a head start on solving crimes.
Participation in the database is voluntary, and residents are not required to turn over footage if requested by police.
Police say the camera programs are an extra tool in their crime-fighting arsenals and they can only request video — not require it.
