Ellie Compton joined WDRB News as a reporter in June 2026.

Before coming to Louisville, Ellie spent three years at KOMU 8 News in Columbia, Missouri, where she worked as a reporter, anchor and digital producer. During her time in mid-Missouri, she covered congressional redistricting lawsuits, tornadoes and an underfunded police pension plan. Her investigation into a carbon monoxide incident at Stephens College earned her third place in Hearst's television news competition.

Ellie graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. While in college, she spent a summer interning at the CBS News National Desk in New York City, where she helped cover breaking national stories, including the Camp Mystic flooding and the Sean Combs "Diddy" trial.

When she's not reporting, Ellie enjoys spending time with family and friends, running and attending live music events. She grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, so you'll find her cheering on the Chicago Bears every football season.
