LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville football team is back in the Associated Press Top 10 for the first time since Lamar Jackson led the Cardinals to a No. 3 ranking in November 2016.
Louisville jumped two spots to No. 9 after a 31-24 win over Virginia on Thursday night. The Cardinals will visit Miami at noon Saturday for a chance to earn a berth in the ACC Championship game for the first time in school history.
Louisville (9-1) is also seeking the seventh 10-win season in school history, and first since Charlie Strong’s team won 12 games and the Russell Athletic Bowl in 2013.
Louisville ranks No. 11 in the College Football Playoff poll, but could move up in that ranking also, after losses by Top 10 teams Penn State and Ole Miss over the3 weekend.
The top eight teams in the poll remain unchanged, with Georgia extending its run in the No. 1 spot to 22 weeks.
