LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Perris Jones, a sixth-year senior running back for Virginia who was injured and carted off the field in the third quarter of a game Thursday night at L&N Stadium, has undergone spine surgery at University of Louisville hospital, according to a release from UVa.
The school described the Friday surgery as successful and in a statement posted to social media said Jones was able to walk briefly on Saturday morning. He will remain under observation and will be transferred to the Frazier Rehab Institute in Louisville for continued care when his medical team releases him.
Jones was injured in a collision with Louisville linebacker (and former UVa teammate) Cam’Ron Kelly late in the third quarter.
