LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jefferson County Public Schools Chief Financial Officer Eddie Muns will leave the district next month, with his final day set for April 10.

Muns' departure comes as JCPS continues to restructure its central office to address a major budget shortfall. A plan introduced in January and approved by the JCPS board in mid-February eliminated several chief-level positions — including the CFO role — as part of a reorganization tied to roughly $142 million in cuts and a projected $188 million deficit.

District leaders said the changes are aimed at reducing administrative costs, with some roles being replaced by lower-paid executive-level positions.

Muns was named CFO in 2023 after more than two decades with JCPS, where he began working in 2001.
