LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A full list of central office jobs at Jefferson County Public Schools is expected to be revealed at Tuesday's Jefferson County Board of Education meeting.

The roles are being eliminated as part of $142 million in cuts across the district to address what's projected to be a $188 million shortfall in the 2026-27 budget.

Using district data obtained through an open records request, WDRB Investigates compiled a JCPS salary database, which shows Superintendent Brian Yearwood makes the most, at $351,346.14.

Ten employees are among the second highest-paid in the district at $199,899.90 annually. That includes Chief Equity Officer John Marshall, Chief Financial Officer Eddie Muns, Chief of Staff Katy DeFerrari and Chief of Communications Carolyn Callahan.

Three assistant superintendents are the third highest-paid employees at $195,951.39 annually.

The JCBE approved a reorganization of the superintendent’s cabinet during its Jan. 20 meeting as part of the district's proposed cuts.

Right now, there are 13 chief positions, half of which the district said will be cut.

JCPS said the positions being eliminated are: chief information officer, chief of human resources, chief communications and community relations officer, chief of schools, chief finance officer, chief of accountability, research and systems improvement, chief of staff and chief of exceptional child education.

The district said the reorganization will start July 1. The changes will create a general counsel and six chief jobs, as well as new positions.

"We have some executive officer positions that will be at a lower pay grade level that chiefs are going to be moving into," Yearwood said during a Jan. 20 JCBE meeting.

New positions include: chief business officer, executive officer of communications and community relations, chief of strategy & innovation, executive officer of student support & community engagement and executive officer of accountability, research and systems Improvement.

"Right now, this is a crisis," Yearwood said. "This is urgent and this is not something, we keep kicking the can down the road with the finances, not now, next month, next year, next year and that's why we are in the condition we are in right now."

JCPS has more than 1,200 employees who make more than $100,000 a year. The budget cuts include $44 million in central office reductions, eliminating roughly 300 positions through department reorganizations.
