LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville City FC lost to CD Leganés in an international friendly Saturday night.

LouCity hosted Spanish opposition for the first time in club history at Lynn Family Stadium. LouCity scored first, but lost 2-1.

Jansen Wilson scored the match's first goal in the 17th minute, but Leganés then scored two goals within a 14-minute span.

Miguel de la Fuente scored the game-tying goal seven minutes after Wilson scored. Said Imigene scored the deciding goal.

“I thought we started the game really, really well — created a lot of chances,” LouCity coach Danny Cruz said. “We looked like a team there for about 30 to 45 (minutes) that had a few days off to try to get our bodies right and all those things. But all in all, it’s a great event for the city. It’s a great event for our fans. And a great event for the players as well."

The friendly is the first of this month's Global Games Series.

Eight of the nine LouCity Academy players who started on the bench received minutes in the match.  Four players age 22 or younger also earned starts.

"For them, it’s a nice experience for sure," Cruz said. "And I’m glad that the guys that came on came on and had a nice moment that they’ll remember for a long time.”
