LENNY LYLES NORTON SPORTS CENTER

More than 2,000 track and field athletes are competing in west Louisville this weekend.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Track and field athletes from across the country will gather in Louisville this weekend for three days of indoor competition at a premier local venue.

Starting Friday, Jan. 30, and continuing through Sunday, Feb. 1, the events are expected to draw more than 1,500 participants each day, including collegiate, high school and youth athletes.

The weekend begins with the sixth annual PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, hosted by the University of Louisville. The two-day collegiate meet, supported by PNC Bank, features elite programs from Texas, Alabama, Ohio and Tennessee.

Among the competitors are Ja’Qualon Scott, an NCAA and SEC All-American specializing in the 60-meter hurdles, and Louisville’s ACC champion thrower Jayden Ulrich.

The schedule concludes Sunday with the Southeast Showdown, organized by Knoxville Youth Athletics. Originally postponed because of winter weather, the youth and high school meet highlights some of the region’s fastest rising athletes.

Tickets and a full schedule are available at online.
