The A-10 Warthog close air support attack aircraft is designed to protect ground forces by attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets. Also known as the Thunderbolt, the Flying Gun, and the Tankbuster. During the first Gulf War, the slow but powerful A-10 proved itself a devastating weapon against enemy tanks. It was also used in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
