U of L’s music therapy program was established in 2000 and was the first of its kind in Kentucky. It teaches how music can be used in a variety of health care and educational areas to "promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, improve communications, promote physical rehabilitation and more," according to a release.
