LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- "All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite & Rampage" makes its Louisville debut Nov. 1 at the KFC Yum! Center.
Actor and professional wrestler Paul Wight is part of the production and joined WDRB Mornings on Friday for a preview of what to expect.
Tickets are on sale now for the Nov. 1 event.
Wight started out by saying how impressed he was with the WDRB Mornings crew's knowledge of professional wrestling.
"I get the opportunity in my career to do a lot of morning TV shows and I just love this atmosphere," Wight said. "You guys are so friendly, so on point. There's so many fans here that understand the product. It's tough to go in a newsroom, and nobody knows what wrestling is. Obviously, we're in Louisville. I'm comfortable. I'm in my moment."
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) launched Jan. 1, 2019. It tours weekly across North America and airs five hours of programming across three weekly shows, including AEW Dynamite, live every Wednesday on TBS, AEWRampage every Friday on TNT and AEW Collision, live every Saturday on TNT.
On Nov. 1, it will make its debut at the KFC Yum! Center.
"It's our Dynamite show, all of our top tier, all elite AEW athletes: Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Young Bucks, and myself," Wight said. "There will be a lot of great talent, a lot of younger talent there, and it's a continuation of our episodic on TBS."
Other athletes on the card include: Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, MJF, Saraya, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., Adam Cole, Sting, Darby Allin and many others.
"This production is great for me because I do some commentary," Wight said. "I get to get in the ring a little bit and work with some of the younger talent. I worked five days a week for maybe 20 years, all over the world. So now in AEW, I get to play a little bit more with what I'm going to do, with the commentary and do a lot of the media stuff. And help some of the younger talent get out and learn how to work with media and talk and be presentable and present their brand and their character. So I still get to have fun but I don't have to take as many bumps and lumps."
Wight has also launched a successful career as an actor -- he's the star of "The Big Show Show" that premiered on Netflix. "Of course right now we have the SAG strike, so there's not much going on there. I've done a lot of work for the past year, with a lot of voiceovers for some things -- Loud House -- and I'm doing the voiceover work because it's a little faster when you're busy."
For other roles, Wight said it's hard to avoid being typecast.
"We're always looking for stuff," Wight said. "It's just hard to find roles at 7-foot, 400 pounds where you're not a bodyguard or an evil bad guy. I'm a sensitive person. I'm like an onion, I have layers."
Despite his intimidating appearance, Wight said the only time anyone needs to be fearful is in the ring.
"I know most people look at me and say, 'I hope I don't meet you in a dark alley.' Why? I might know the way out," Wight joked.
All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite & Rampage takes place Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the KFC Yum! Center, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online and at the KFC Yum! Center box office.
