Happy Valentine's Day! February has some pretty crazy extremes, with lows below 0 and highs above 70 at times. Anything can happen this time of year, so let's talk about some of the extremes we have experienced in years past.

Warmest: Valentine's Day is known for the warmth in our hearts, but it can also be warm outside! The warmest Valentine's Day we've ever had in Louisville was 69° back in 1949 and 1921.

Coldest: Even though Valentine's Day happens in the back half of winter, we know it can still get plenty cold around here! The coldest Valentine's Day on record is 0° back in 1905.

Wettest: Nobody wants their Valentine's Day plans to be rained out. Fortunately, this year's rain is very light in nature. The same couldn't be said in 1949 when we recorded 1.39" of rain in that 24 hour period. This was the same year with the record warm temperature of 69°.

Snowiest: Don't forget to tell your Valentine that they are more beautiful than a fresh coat of snow! The most snow we have ever seen fall on Valentine's Day was 4.6" in 1970. The deepest snow cover we've ever recorded was 8" in 1940.
