This time of the year is known for its short days and early evenings due to the sun going down so early and the sun coming up so late. The shortest day of the year has already passed, being on the winter solstice in late December, but still, days can feel really short this time of the year.

Luckily for us, we are gaining more daylight every single day for the next few months. We still gain a decent amount of daylight in the month of January, even though it is known for its darker and colder days.

The sunset tonight on Sunday will be at 5:36pm. That's still pretty early right? Well, look at it this way; on the shortest day of the year, December 21st, the sunset was at 5:26pm. We've already gained 10 minutes of daylight on the sunset alone since then.

By January 15th, the sunset is already pushed back to 5:46pm, and then next thing you know by the end of the month, our sunset is after 6pm and setting at 6:04pm! So between right now and the end of the month, we will gain around 40 minutes of daylight! You'll start to notice our daylight increasing a little quicker the further we go into the late winter months!

By the end of February the sun will set around 6:35pm and the sun will be coming up much earlier too, at 7:16am! By then, we've gained around an hour and 40 minutes of daylight from right now! Next thing you know, we'll be moving our clocks forward and sunset will be at 7:43pm on March 8th.
