Saturn has been visible over our heads at night for much of this month so far and that continues tonight and this week as well!

Saturn will come up over the southern horizon at 3:19 PM ET, well before sunset, but it will still be visible through around 2:57 AM ET before it sets! While Saturn was really close to the moon about a week ago at the beginning of the month, by now it will appear further to the west of the moon tonight and much of this week. The moon will actually be closer to Jupiter at this point in the month!

Saturn will appear as a yellowish, star-like point of light, shining at approximately magnitude 1.0 among the stars of the constellation Aquarius. While you can see the planet with the naked eye, using a telescope or good binoculars will allow you to see details like its rings, which will be tilted close to edge-on, or possibly its largest moon, Titan.

If you can't see it tonight because of clouds or other reasons, don't worry! Saturn will be visible in our area for much of the month!
