It's Master's Sunday! The most coveted golf tournament in the world comes to its annual conclusion today! The Masters is held at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Since it is held in April every year, the weather in the Deep South can do all sorts of things that can highly impact the golfers competing in the event every year. So, let's dive into some of the times when weather was the most impactful at The Masters.

Warmest

Nobody wants to play golf when it's super hot & humid outside, but that's Georgia for you. While a golf ball goes further in dry and warm conditions, it can take a lot out of you. Luckily since The Masters is held in April, it's usually not too hot this time of the year. Here are the warmest days in The Masters history:

 2019 74.9°
 1999 74.6°
 2015 71.5°
 1965 71.1°
 1946 70.5°

These are average temperatures over the entire 4-day tournament for both high and low temperatures. The warmest day was April 7th, 1967 when the high was 92°!

Coldest

Just as you don't really want to play a lot of golf in the heat, you definitely don't want to play a lot of golf in the cold. Here are the coldest masters tournaments on record:

 2007  48.1°
 1982 51.1°
 1934 51.3°
 1950 53.3°
 2022 53.9°

It's important to note that just a few years ago in 2022, that cooler air was due in part to over an inch of rain falling over the span of the tournament., and around 3/4" of rain during the 1982 tournament. The coldest day in particular was a morning low of 26° on Sunday, April 8th, 2007.

Speaking of rain, one of the most impactful types of weather for golfers is of course, rain. It can affect the way your ball flies, rolls, and the overall condition of the course. Here's the wettest Masters tournaments:

 1936 3.23"
 1983 3.17"
 2023 2.85"
 1973 2.67"
 1989 2.09"

The wettest single day in Masters history was on April 7th, 1973 when 2.67" of rain fell on that Saturday alone!

Windiest

Arguably, along with rain, windy conditions are the largest impact to golfers as it can shift the balls path and have make or break results. Some notable years with high winds include:

1956 when wind gusts of 40 mph were reported. In more recent memory, 2016 experienced 30-40 mph wind gusts Thursday thru Saturday, 2017 when the par 3 contest on Wednesday was actually cancelled due to severe weather and then followed by gusts over 30 mph on Thursday and Friday. Lastly and more recent, 2023 saw strong wind gusts on Friday which caused a few trees to actually fall during play, while 2024 saw strong wind gusts reach 40 mph on Friday,
