ROARchestra 2025
Animals and music will come together for a harmonious combination in Louisville this 4th of July weekend.
ROARchestra, a partnership between the Louisville Zoo and Louisville Orchestra, returns to the Louisville Zoo's renovated Oasis Field stage this Saturday, July 5.
The concert dates back to 1989 and is a "deep well of nostalgia and fond memories" for the community.
ROARchestra was reignited last summer after a 15-year hiatus, taking a final bow in 2008.
Grammy award winner Teddy Abrams will conduct the concert, which is near the Cats of the Americas exhibit and the Metazoo.
Families are encouraged to bring their blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets, just like they did in the past.
ROARchestra will kick off with "The Star-Spangled Banner." The zoo said the concert will "reflect the heart and soul of American culture" with Copland's "El Salón México" and Carlos Simon's "The Block," which is a tribute to Black American life.
"Patriotic flair meets classical power with selections from Beethoven, Vivaldi and Gulda," the zoo said. "Hollywood favorites like John Williams' "Jurassic Park" and "Star Wars" themes add blockbuster excitement."
The ROARchestra will conclude with Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture."
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. to allow guests time to get to Oasis Field, which opens at 7 p.m. The zoo will be open from 7-8 p.m. before the concert, which starts at 8:30 p.m.
Adult tickets cost $35, children ages 3-11 are $15 and children ages 2 and under get in free. Zoo parking is included in the ticket price. A chair can be reserved for the concert for an additional $5, but quantities are limited.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase, but outside food and beverages are permitted. No outside alcohol is allowed.
