LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Black Legislative Caucus continues its annual Black History Celebration Tuesday with panels examining policies that have shaped the lives of Black Kentuckians.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. in committee room 169 of the Capitol Annex at the statehouse in Frankfort.

Historians will discuss historical policies, both written and unwritten, that affected the journey of emancipated African Americans. A second panel will explore recent and proposed policies and their impact on the community.

“This segment of the Black History series is about understanding the effects of past policies and learning how to forge a better future,” said Senate Democratic Floor Leader Gerald A. Neal, a KBLC member and lead organizer.

Panelists include Dr. Alicestyne Turley, Dr. Rajeev Darolia, Senate Majority Floor Leader Max Wise and House Minority Whip Joshua Watkins.

The series continues Feb. 19 with a student panel and concludes Feb. 26 with a history panel featuring Vincent Evans, executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus.
