Woman dead after early morning shooting near PRP neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman was shot and killed Friday morning near Louisville's PRP neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police said officers were called to the 7500 block of Winstead Drive around 5:30 a.m. on a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

She was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition. LMPD spokesperson Adam Sears said she died shortly after arriving to the hospital.

Due to the nature of the victim’s injuries, LMPD's Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
