LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Drivers in southeast Louisville now have a new way to get around.
The Hall Place Boulevard Connector officially opened Thursday, linking Beulah Church Road and Cedar Creek Road.
The 1,100-foot road was built as part of a nearly $2 million project that started in January. The work included new curbs, sidewalks and a stormwater drainage system.
Jeff Hudson, Metro Council District 23, said the new road will do more than provide another route through the area.
"Hall Place Boulevard does more than connect Point A to Point B," Hudson said. "Hall Place Boulevard gives a relief valve to the cut-through traffic and the congestion on Bardstown Road. They deserve that. They’ve been asking for that."
The connector is expected to help ease traffic on Bardstown Road and reduce cut-through traffic in nearby neighborhoods.
