JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- A Trunk or Treat event at the Clark County Auto Auction this weekend promises sweets for the kids and sweet rides on display for car lovers.

All kinds of cars will be on display at the free event that's set for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 1000 Auction Lane, which is right off 10th Street in Jeffersonville.

About 100 to 200 cars are expected to be on display, and everyone is invited to enter. Classic cars are encouraged, but not necessary -- modern cars are also welcome. Don't forget to bring plenty of candy to give to the trunk or treaters.

The entry fee is $20, and people can register on the day of the event. Please plan to arrive between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to allow enough time to get set up. Anyone with questions can call Paul Fetter at 812-989-6200 or Larry Butler at 502-356-2757.

If you get hungry, a food truck from Bret's BBQ will be on-site, along with a dessert booth.

And it's all for a good cause: to raise money for Childplace Family Services. The nonprofit has been housing children and teens removed from their homes because of abuse, neglect or other issues since the 1960s. In that time, it has provided care for over 2,000 children and placed 350 in adoptive homes.

In addition to housing, Childplace offers therapy services and educational support. Currently there are two Childplace campuses in Clark County: one in Jeffersonville that houses 27 children, and one in Sellersburg, where nine children are housed. The organization also cares for another 14 foster children.

The goal of Saturday's event is to raise $20,000 -- $400 for each child -- to make sure the kids have a traditional Christmas. The Childplace team will use the money to purchase gifts for each child as well as a group gift.

All donations from the event will be matched.

You don't have to enter a car to attend -- everyone is invited to bring children to trunk or treat. Don't forget to wear your costume!
