LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An annual coat drive has started in Louisville.

Kentucky state Senator David Yates and Louisville Metro Councilman Khalil Batshon (R-25) announced the 2023 Gavin Chase Coat-A-Kid Drive on Monday. The event continues through Friday.

Anyone can donate new winter coats, gloves and scarves to Stomping Grounds Coffee Shop at 10019 Dixie Highway or Shirley's Way at 10966 Dixie Highway. The donations will be given to Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) students through Family Resource and Youth Service coordinators, according to a news release.

"While many of us take a warm coat in the winter for granted, there are hundreds of children in our school system that do not share that luxury," Batshon said in a news release. "I am hopeful that this coat drive will help to address this important need and look forward to many more years of honoring the work of Chase Gavin and the many people who helped to get this effort off the ground."
