LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Oktoberfest is not just one of Germany's largest events; it's also a popular celebration in Louisville.
On Saturday, Repourposed on Main, right in the heart of Whiskey Row, hosted the first-ever Oktoberfest event downtown.
The event, called Steins on Main, was organized by Louisville Downtown Partnership, Against the Grain, and the Louisville Ale Trail.
The event celebrates German heritage and focuses on local beer and German food.
There were contests for the best Yodel and Best Dressed and lots of games.
"So far people are really just enjoying all the great local beer," Michael Moeller, Louisville Ale Trail co-founder, said. "This is what we are calling a brewers Oktoberfest -all the folks here represented have a tap room here in town."
Proceeds from Saturday's downtown Oktoberfest benefitted Coalition for the Homeless.
