LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade returns this weekend.
The 31st edition of the family friendly parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. April 19. This year's celebration includes a mix of colorful floats, costumed characters, energetic dance groups, antique cars and candy for parade spectators.
Former District 9 Metro Councilmember Bill Hollander will lead the parade as Grand Marshal. He served on Louisville Metro Council from 2015-23.
According to a news release Tuesday, the parade starts at St. Mark's Episcopal Church at 2822 Frankfort Ave. and ends at Pope Street. People are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets, along with bringing bags to collect candy and treats. The parade is free to attend.
"The Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade is a cherished tradition that brings our community together in celebration, highlighting the creativity, spirit, and connection that make this neighborhood so special," Louisville Metro Councilman Andrew Owen said in a news release.
