LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — One local church made it easy for its congregation to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday by opening a drive-thru.

The drive-thru was open outside of St. Andrew United Church of Christ on Browns Lane from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will be open again from 5-6 p.m.

"It's a chance for folks who have maybe been out of church for a while or aren't connected to a congregation or maybe aren't connected o the Catholic tradition to come by and as part of the Protestant Church, be a part of this imposition of ashes, which is a reminder of how finite life is and how precious life is," said Associate Pastor Emma Loane.

The church said anyone is welcome, in cars or on foot. This marks the 11th year St. Andrew has provided the drive-thru.
