LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville is celebrating the grand opening of dozens of brand new affordable housing units in the Highlands Douglass neighborhood.
On Friday, Wellspring held a ribbon cutting and open house for 50 new Affordable and Supportive Housing units on Douglass Boulevard just off Bardstown Road.
This is the first local housing project to open using American Rescue Plan Funding in Louisville.
The units are aimed at helping those who are homeless or at risk of being homeless find housing.
"Housing is a human right," Rep. Morgan McGarvey, D-3, said during the ribbon cutting. "We must be putting people in housing if we are to tackle any and every other problem we have to deal with."
The location also offers vital access to grocery stores, medical facilities, public transportation, parks, and other amenities.
