LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Bernheim Forest is unveiling a wheelchair accessible treehouse.

A team built the treehouse using trees that fell during storms at the forest.

The design takes advantage of topography and ramping to allow wheelchair users access to the treehouse that is 15 feet above ground, a safe and inclusive experience for kids of all ages.

There is also accessible pathways, picnic tables, and a sandbox in the Playcosystem, the forest's 17-area natural play area.

Bernheim Forest is hosting a Celebration of Play on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for families to check out the new treehouse and enjoy other family activities. For more information about the event, click here.
