LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Shelbyville got into the Christmas spirit a little early this year with its 38th annual celebration of lights.
The event featured festive lights, music, and a countdown to the tree lighting later in the evening.
The celebration officially kicked off Shelbyville’s shopping season, with local retailers and 166 vendor booths participating.
There was plenty of food, singing, and appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, giving families plenty of time to enjoy the holiday season.
"It really is like a Hallmark movie here because the energy is so great," said Darlene Snow, Shelby Main Street executive director. "The feeling of the spirit of Christmas or the holidays is there with everybody. It's just really great. And I think it brings out the little kid in all of us."
