LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police were called Saturday night after reports of large groups of juveniles involved in fights inside the Fest-a-Ville event area at the Waterfront, according to Louisville Metro Police.

As the event ended early, several hundred juveniles moved into the downtown area, where additional reports of disorderly behavior and fighting among groups were made.

Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Matthew Sanders said additional officers were called in to restore order due to the size of the crowd and disturbances. Two juvenile arrests were made.

Officials called the behavior "disappointing and troubling," especially during Derby season, noting Louisville’s focus on showcasing the city to residents and visitors.

"We want everyone to be able to enjoy these events safely, and we will continue working with our partners to keep the community and visitors safe," officials said.

No further details were immediately released.
