LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — Taste of Independents, a signature Louisville culinary event, returned Sunday for its ninth year, celebrating the independent restaurant community and its chefs.

Guests sampled food from more than 40 tasting stations at The Olmsted.

Proceeds benefit APRON Inc., a nonprofit that provides temporary financial relief to food and beverage workers.

Participating restaurants included Fat Lamb, Four Pegs, Red Yeti and River Road BBQ. Several distilleries and breweries also participated.

"It is everything to us," Red Yeti Executive Chef Michael Bow said. "A lot of restaurant employees don't have health insurance - it is the unfortunate truth. So, there is not another organization in the city like APRON. All of us support them so much. What they do is just amazing."
