LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 22-year-old man was arrested Sunday in connection with a shooting in Louisville's California neighborhood in June.

According to Louisville Metro Police, officers responded to a reported shooting June 12 in the 2300 block of Hale Avenue at 4:16 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Amare Battle was arrested Sunday and charged with attempted murder, assault and violation of a Kentucky emergency protective order/domestic violence order in connection with the shooting.

Court documents state Battle "declared his intent to kill the victim" after shooting him, but a witness allegedly pushed him off the victim before a magazine fell out of the gun.

Battle then allegedly fled the scene. He's scheduled to appear in court Monday.
