LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — For some, they were the most important packages UPS would deliver on Wednesday.
The packages were filled with 3,800 hygiene kits for Louisville's homeless community.
UPS employees packed the kits Wednesday morning at Worldport, and delivered them to Wayside Christian Mission's Hotel Louisville.
Each kit contains socks, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a comb and a bar of soap.
"It's so nice to be able to hand these to a homeless person. It shows the homeless person the community cares about them, gives them a little bit of hope and it helps us to gain their trust when we can give them something useful like that and make them feel welcome," said Andrew Takami, UPS region community relations manager.
Wayside will share the kits with other agencies that support those living on the street. The kits were paid for by the UPS Foundation.
