LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Churchill Downs is rolling out the red carpet for celebrities taking part in long-standing traditions before the big events.

In a news release, the horse racing track said Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Grace Potter will perform the National Anthem before the 151st Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 3, 2025. She will take the stage just after 5 p.m.

Olympic champion Simone Biles will have the honor of serving as this year’s Riders Up announcer for Derby. The most decorated gymnast in history will be in The Paddock before the call to post to command all jockeys to mount their horses for the 151st Run for the Roses.

Celebrities will also kick-off Friday's Kentucky Oaks. All-American National Champion gymnast Olivia Dunne instructs the Kentucky Oaks for the Riders Up call. The Voice Season 23 winner Gina Miles will perform the National Anthem.

In addition to the upcoming release of her new album "Medicine," Potter joins  Chris Stapleton on tour in July.
