LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Pat Kelsey will be the featured speaker at this year's Kentucky Derby Festival's annual They're Off luncheon.
The University of Louisville men's basketball coach was recently named Atlantic Coach Conference Coach of the Year after the Cardinals went 27-7 and reached the ACC Championship for the first time in team history.
"We’ve scored one of Louisville’s most recognizable names to help us kick off the Derby Festival," Matt Gibson, Kentucky Derby Festival president and CEO, said in a news release. "Pat Kelsey has one of the most inspiring storylines in college basketball this season."
The They're Off! Luncheon was first held in 1957. It's the second-oldest event on the festival's schedule.
The luncheon will be April 11 at 11 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville. The Volunteer of the Year Award and Silver Horseshoe Award for service to the community will be honored during the ceremony.
