Across the U.S., some state legislatures have passed bills addressing automated license plate readers and the data they collect. Kentucky and Indiana have not.
A 2022 WDRB News investigation found that some Kentucky police departments had no policies governing data collected from automated license plate readers.
With two legislative days remaining, the Kentucky House and Senate are at odds over a bill creating statewide rules for data collected by license plate cameras.
