It’s an approach that could upend Kentucky’s longstanding reliance on fuel taxes, a sometimes volatile revenue stream tied to wholesale prices. But it also would raise new concerns from privacy to interstate travel.
A bill to raise the state fuel tax hasn't been filed. Republicans are waiting for Gov. Andy Beshear to act. Beshear has said talks have been hampered by a GOP bill curbing the governor's powers.Â
Beshear said the new executive order tweaks some of his previous restrictions and is similar to travel restrictions issued by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.
